What Does Coffee Taste Like?

Good coffee has a natural sweetness that is complemented by refreshing acidity, that taste fruity. You can also find nutty flavor like chocolate or walnut when caffeine started kicking in. Scientists believe there are over 100 chemical compounds inside a cup of coffee, that’s why the flavor have just a wide range of taste.

What kind of coffee tasting experience are you going to have?

Fruity

Fruity taste is naturally found in coffee beans, which contain acid compounds. When we taste citrus fruits such as lemons, orange or tangerine, it’s because of the citric acid found in the bean that makes us correlate the flavor to the fruits. Fruity coffee usually come from higher altitude growing region with volcanic soil, the acidic content will be richer. And it’s usually roast light. We pick a Kenyan coffee to represent fruity, famous for it’s signature berry flavor. Try looking for the black current, tastes like our child favorite drink – Ribena利賓納.

Sweet

Contrary to most people think, coffee can have a hint of sweetness. We are not talking about adding sugar to the cup, sweetness are naturally found in roasted coffee beans. Together with other compounds, the sweetness side of the coffee will remind you flavor like honey, caramel, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla and even chocolate. Looking for sweet notes, American coffee are a prime place to start. We pick a Colombian to speak for sweetness coffee. Try looking for the honey flavor, it’s really sweet, in particular cooling a bit.

Nutty

Can coffee taste nutty, not just purely bitter? Certainly. Try not to drink too dark roast coffee, you can immediately taste nutty flavors like almonds, hazelnuts, walnut, dark chocolate, etc. It’s a direct result of how plant seeds being roasted, these nutty flavors should be quite easy to identified. We pick a Nicaragua coffee which nutty taste like dark chocolate, walnut are commonly found. Try looking for the hazelnut taste, the nut inside Ferraro Rocher chocolate 金莎朱古力.
