Haiti Cafe Kreyol Organic Blue

Mellow, smooth and creamy body. Roasted almonds, honey sweetness, buttery mouthfeel. Acidity is low, body is medium and complexity is medium. Sweet, smooth finish with astonishing balance. This is a flawless cup of coffee.

Cafe Kreyol is an award-winning roster in USA. Working in Haiti to source green coffee is a volunteer work by the founder Joseph Starzzone to start with. This direct trade program has been run for over 10 years, and it’s LCC’s third year featuring the Haiti blue mountain.

They believe farmers should get paid based on the quality of their product and they practice this belief by paying up to 300% higher wages than what Fair Trade requires. This Direct Trade system, that is now the backbone of Cafe Kreyol, believes that quality and sustainability are parallel.

Nestled in the mountains just south of Cap Haitian, this is the oldest running cooperative in all of Haiti. COOPACVOD has over 850 members and workers and produces the only organic certified, arabica blue mountain coffee in all of Haiti.

Cafe Kreyol’s Flagship product is this Haitian Blue coffee. Grown entirely of Arabica Blue Mountain (which is likely a sub-variety of Typica), and the only Organic Certified coffee currently produced in Haiti. Being organic isn’t its only unique quality though. With definitive notes of butter, sweet creaminess, and almond, this cup quality is certainly the best to come out of Haiti, and potentially the finest to come out of the Caribbean.
