Ecuador Pinchincha Gilda Pacamara

pretty jazzy citrus floral tones, balanced with nutty/chocolate; clean, sweet, and medium body

Gilda Carrascal at 1700m

Pacamara is an Arabica variety famous of it’s super big bean size, sometime challenging for roaster. This Pacamara is a smaller screen, a very nice screen with beautiful processing but pretty normal sized.

Ecuador’s elevation ranges from sea level to above 2,000m, together with its location on the Equator, provides a wide range of unique microclimate for different possibilities. The traditional growing area Manabi, is located in 500-700 altitude. That’s why some farmers like the Carrascals are exploring higher altitude growing area, like Pinchicha, that has a potential to produce good quality coffee that can match its neighbours Colombia & Peru.

Gilda is neighbors with Arnaud and got the strain (seeds) from him. Growing up at some even higher altitudes, a great coffee. Although all of these Ecuador’s are great, this one had 6 out of 8 scoring it a point higher than the others.

Gilda is also located on the outskirts of Tulipe de Pichincha, outside of the traditional coffee growing areas but in a spot that is perfect for the trees. Very high altitude (5000+ Ft) with less cloud cover than most areas around it.
