This is the 3rd year we feature this famous high quality private Ethiopian coffee that proudly sourced by Pebble Coffee since 2018. When we first taste this coffee in Taiwan, immediately understand why they create this name – peach all over the mouth. This flavor is so outstanding, pathing a solid choice of Ethiopian coffee other than more commonly found Yirgacheffe and Guji.
Twakok is a word created by Pebble team, originated from local Ethiopian language Tafac Kok, which means sweet peach. This name really represent the taste profile for this coffee.
Over the years, you may notice the region name of this coffee has changed from Sidamo to Oromia, SNNPR, and finally to Sidama. This reflect the latest effort of Ethiopia government to give Sidama people more recognition of their name and ritual. The name “Sidamo”’coffee has been used to call coffee from the bigger region that include Oromia and SNNPR for a long time, but the spelling is always upsetting real Sidama people, who has their own languages living in a small and redefined area. While sub region like Yirgacheffe and Guji spinning out to become a separate region, the definition of Sidamo coffee before more and more confusing. Sidama region is finally established in 2020. From that on, we can use the name Sidama to call coffee growing by Sidama people.
